Family law has changed tremendously in the recent past. Abbott Delves keeps up to date with all changes of the law which encompasses financial disputes varying from small money cases to complex cases involving large amounts of money, divorces, cohabitation disputes, prenuptial disputes and the question of contact and residence with children.

Divorce is usually a traumatic experience and involves one of the most life changing and upsetting times that can be experienced. Sometimes it can be for good and sometimes for bad. It frequently involves the sale of a home and the decision as to how the proceeds of sale should be split, the division of any pensions and the question of both child and spousal maintenance. It is at this time it is imperative that cool and considered advice is needed as well as support.

It is also imperative that the legal advisors to the parties work towards a constructive solution of the problems of financial matters and contact and that care is taken not to inflame the inevitable upset and to make the position worse. Whilst if at all possible a compromise should be reached a firm approach can be adopted and if necessary the Court’s assistance sought.
